On Thursday, government officials from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) assured a parliamentary panel that there had been no reported breaches in the COVID vaccination portal.

When questioned about the alleged data breach from the CoWIN portal, government officials stated that bots collected the leaked data from various sources. They emphasized that CoWIN is a secure portal that is resistant to breaches. 

A  lawmaker mentioned that government officials defended the CoWIN portal, highlighting its use of a one-time password (OTP) for verification. 

However, he noted that the officials from CERT-In did not provide satisfactory answers regarding the CoWIN portal, citing that multiple Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) have been given access to the portal. 

Previously, the Health Ministry had refuted claims of a data breach on the CoWIN portal, dismissing the reports as baseless and mischievous. Furthermore, a press release affirmed the complete safety of the CoWIN portal, emphasizing the implementation of adequate measures to protect data privacy.
